10,000 Camp Cody Soldiers Released From Quarantine

Filed under: Camp Cody Deming — Michael Kromeke @ 6:47 pm

“There are about 10,000 soldiers in Camp Cody now and they were released from quarantine last week,” said J. A. Mahoney, merchant and banker of Deming, New Mexico. “No one knows what plans the government will adopt as to the cantonments. Of the troops in Camp Cody now, about 7,000 of them are of the new draft for the 97th division. Some of the last who arrived about the time the news of the signing of the armistice came have been sent back.” – El Paso Herald Newspaper – Wednesday, November 19, 1918
